Jobs for America's Graduates-Louisiana (JAG-LA) program is an affiliate of National Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), the nation's largest dropout prevention and recovery program serving youth 12-21 years of age. This program delivers a unique set of services for at-risk students to help them earn a high school diploma and to assist out of school youth earn a high school equivalency diploma. JAG-LA is designed to serve high school students deemed to be disconnected from school, family, and community. These students are at risk of successfully transitioning to post-secondary education, vocational education training or future employment. JAG-LA provides a mentor and one year follow-up services to assistance in a successful transition. The program provides an academic setting which fosters leadership skills, job attainment skills, and communication skills. These skills support students to become productive citizens in society and in the workplace. JAG-LA and the Louisiana Department of Education work to ensure the integrity of the model through the local program sites. The Program also supports the efforts of the Jump Start initiatives by offering career to school model, curriculum, mentoring, work based learning, and follow-up to seniors.
