IES Study Abroad is Seeking a Video & Digital Media Intern!

Start date: June 3, 2019
Location: Chicago, IL

Summary of Position:

One intern will be selected to work with the Marketing Department in IES Abroad's Chicago office to work on video editing & video content ideation, social media related projects, and assist the Department with larger projects and campaigns as needed. This internship is a great way for a current or recent college student to gain real-world marketing experience with a focus on video production.

Job responsibilities:

  • Edit videos for the website and for IES Abroad's social media platforms
  • Assist with video focused prospect emails
  • Assist with video recordings and interviews with Chicago HQ staff
  • Assist with SEO optimization of video content and propose video content opportunities and ideas that align with our keyword strategy
  • Add content to and assist in the curation of our social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Ideate Facebook Live & Instagram Live ideas in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Video & Social Media Manager, as well as assisting in set-up and execution
  • Social media related research as determined
  • Video marketing related research as determined
  • Photo & video curation for IES Abroad website
  • Provide Study Abroad Film Festival support as needed
  • Assist with web content creation and editing, as directed by Marketing staff


  • Assist with collecting and organizing student profiles and student quotes
  • Assist with carrying out marketing campaigns or other marketing-related projects, as needed
  • Develop understanding of best-practices as needed, ex. competitor research
  • Other marketing-related projects, as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Any other task or duty as assigned or required

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • Vested interest in study abroad or travel
  • Video editing experience (Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere)
  • Familiarity with motion graphics software or willingness to learn a plus (i.e. After Effects or Motion)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; with a strong ability to write content for the web
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms, either by personal use or in a professional brand setting
  • Strong computer skills; Experience with Adobe Photoshop a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills
  • Initiative, flexibility and ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills


  • High School Diploma required Marketing, Communications, or Journalism major or related subject required
